On December 31, 2025, New York City retired the iconic MetroCard after more than three decades of service. Over a billion swipes. Millions of commutes. Late nights, early mornings, holiday rushes, and everyday New York moments, all stored in the magnetic stripe of a small yellow card.
NYC Holick exists to make sure those cards don't just disappear. We've preserved thousands of authentic, decommissioned MetroCards , including the very last ones ever issued, stamped with a 2026 expiration date they'll never get to use.
